Slingshots & Catapults

We are recently seeing a series of incidents involving youths using slingshots and catapults to damage windows, properties and harm wild animals.

We are looking to conduct proactive patrols using our powers of stop and search within your area to help tackle this issue.

We encourage anyone who has not reported this, to do so through the means of 999 in an emergency or via the messenger helpdesk/101 for non emergencies.  

Robust action will be taken to those found in possession of such items and may lead to arrests and criminal convictions. It is unlawful to have in your possession such an item in public without a reasonable excuse. It is also against the law to sell such items to persons under the age of 16.

If you have children, please can you educate them about the risks of using such items and the repercussions of being found with them in public.
